Assignment 1 – “Extraordinary Out Of The Ordinary – Architecture & Me”
The idea of this picture is to portray the firmness and the imposing facade of the building. The foliage at the side juxtapose the building and brings in the gentleness and fluidity effect of nature into the picture. Light streams from the back of the subject thus silhouetting them slightly. I have used the Rule of Thirds and vertical lines as the composition technique for this picture.
As this building has a symmetrical feature which resembles the classical buildings of the west, I have chosen to include the leafless tree branch in the foreground to add to the solemn, yet majestic mood of the scene. Again, the back lighting silhouettes the subjects. Techniques for this composition is The Triangle and sky being the negative space.
The night scene of this building creates an effect of a “Royal Party” going on as the lights come up and lit up the building. Adding to the mood of the scene, the water fountain at the foreground which is also lighted up, creates a “cheerful motion” to the picture. Composition technique used for this picture is the Rule of Thirds, having splited the picture into three parts: the foreground which is the water water fountain, the middle ground which is the building, and the background which is the twilight sky.
This picture illustrates the beauty and activity of a busy city by the river. Composition techniques used are the Rule of Thirds, horizontal lines, and negative space. As the picture can be divided into three sections, the river being the foreground, the buildings being the middle ground, and the sky being the background, it complies to the Rule of Thirds. Horizontal lines implies a calming effect and stability in the picture. The sky also acts as the negative space in the picture.
This interior shot captures the light and shadows passing through the window slits in a stair core leading to the basement of the building. This scene has a mysterious effect as there are leading lines that lead to somewhere unknown and that light only can reach the top of the stairs. The composition techniques used are negative space, leading lines, and depth of field – perspective.
These are two shots of the interior of a shopping mall: in the day where the space is lighted up with natural daylighting, and the night where it is lighted up with artificial lighting. The techniques used is these two pictures are leading lines and rhythm.
This is a portrait of myself, walking under a canopy of trees in the late afternoon sun. This illustrates is the carefree and independent nature of myself, knowing that i’m always granted protection from God above. The composition technique used is frame within a frame, and the focus being on myself.
This pictures illustrates the playful side of me, loving and enjoying nature and creation. Techniques used are the triangle and the rule of thirds.
This is me, sometimes in a pensive mood when the weather is gloomy, or just immersing in deep thought. Techniques used are negative space and the triangle.
